This Privacy Policy explains how the Homii app collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our application.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (required)
• Name / Display Name
• Profile picture (optional)
• Authentication credentials via Firebase Authentication

1.2 Login Methods

You can sign in using:

• Email and password
• Google Login (via Firebase Authentication)
• Apple Login (via Firebase Authentication)

For Google and Apple Login, Firebase securely handles authentication, and we receive your email and name as provided by the service.

1.3 App Data

We collect data related to your use of the app:

• WG membership (wgId)
• Tasks (title, description, due date)
• Expenses (amount, title, category)
• Receipt photos (Premium feature, stored in Firebase Storage)
• Votes / Voting data
• Shopping list items
• Notifications (in-app notifications, e.g., task assignments)
• Leaderboard data (points, streaks, XP)
• Push notification token(s) used to deliver notifications to your device

1.4 Device Permissions

If you grant permission, we may access:

• Photo Library: to let you choose a profile picture or upload receipt photos (e.g., a receipt image for expense sharing)
• Camera: to let you take a profile picture or receipt photo directly in the app
• Notifications: to send reminders and relevant WG updates

1.5 Data Not Collected

We currently do NOT collect:

• Location data
• Contacts
• Calendar data
• Health data
• Advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Operate and improve the Homii app
• Manage WG tasks, expenses, and voting
• Provide in-app and push notifications
• Display leaderboard and app statistics
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues

3. Where We Store Your Data

All data is stored using Google Firebase services:

• Firebase Firestore: users, WGs, tasks, expenses, votings, shopping lists, notifications
• Firebase Storage: profile pictures and receipt photos
• Firebase Authentication: email/password and OAuth credentials
• Firebase Cloud Functions: backend workflows (e.g., notification-related processes)

4. Analytics & Tracking

We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking for personalized ads.

Homii may store limited in-app product events locally on your device (e.g., in local app storage) to improve product quality and user experience. These events are not used for personalized advertising.

Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT) is currently not used for ad tracking purposes.

5. Sharing Data

We do not sell your personal data.

We share data only with service providers required to operate the app (e.g., Google Firebase) and only to the extent necessary for authentication, storage, notifications, and app functionality.

We may also disclose data if legally required.

6. Legal Bases (EEA/UK)

If you are located in the EEA/UK, we process personal data under:

• Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance): account, WG features, tasks, expenses, voting, synchronization
• Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent): camera/photo access, push notifications
• Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests): app security, fraud prevention, reliability, and service improvement

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active.

If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data unless legal retention obligations apply. Technical backups and logs may remain for a limited period before automatic deletion.

8. International Transfers

Our service providers (including Google Firebase) may process data outside your country.

Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Your Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request:

• Access to your personal data
• Correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion of your data
• Restriction of processing
• Objection to processing
• Data portability
• Withdrawal of consent (where processing is based on consent)

You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. Children

Homii is not intended for children under the age of 16 (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.
